The desert is crossed. Now, it is time to prepare.

Mon Jul 6, 2009, 12:23 AM
Okay, after two weeks of hard labor (well, maybe not that hard, but it sure did take up a lot of my time) the corporate dragons at work have been fended off and I've returned to a normal schedule. I couldn't concentrate on making up a presentation packet with so much on my plate so I painted one more page in my free moments, so as not to get too out of the groove. So that gives me 11 pages totally inked and washed.

I'm going to start assembling a sample comic now, but at the moment I'm checking out various "Hand-drawn" fonts, looking for something that looks natural and has personality (and isn't comic sans). Lord knows my own hand writing would degenerate into an illegible scrawl soon enough, and you can't have an mechanical-looking font in a hand-made universe. I've been downloading various fonts I find appealing and...hold on a minute, I've just had an idea.

K, I'm back. I uploaded a scrap of a few of the test fonts I played with in photoshop. If you happen to be reading this, a little feedback on the fonts I'm linking here: [link] would be appreciated.

Now, apart from that, I'm going to make high quality scans of all my finished pages to bring more consistency to the appearance of the work and do any minor clean-up work. Next I'll have to create a summary of the script that actually capture the spirit of the work without making it sound cheesy. Also...I must figure out how to make the printers at work capture at least some semblance of the subtlety of the ink tones.

Oh boy...

Well then, Josh'll do the colors!!
AAAUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Justino, every time I look at your comic the ink wash dazzles me more and more! You know, I never said this to you because it just dawned upon me, but the ink wash you incorporate gives the art a stone cold look, as if everything is made from stone. I don't know if it was intended, but it sure sets the mood!!

Great stuff as always and Amazing Trout and I will see you for DragonCon!
Yeah the ink wash works really well for this kind of story because it has that dark coldness to it, but I don't know what I'm gonna do when it comes to doing warmer, less dark storylines.
